BR-CHI and CLIHC Host Short Course on HCI Research Methods

On May 6, 2026, the ACM SIGCHI Brazil Chapter (BR-CHI), in a partnership with CLIHC (Latin American Conference on Human-Computer Interaction), hosted the online short course “Research Methods in Human-Computer Interaction: Foundations and Practical Approaches.”

The initiative, which was part of CLIHC’s official program of activities, aimed to train undergraduate students, graduate students, and early-career researchers in the field of HCI, offering a solid and practical foundation on the main methodologies used in the discipline.

Collaboration and Regional Inclusion

he short course was taught by a team of researchers from our community: Vânia Neris (lead professor – UFSCar), Rodrigo OliveiraSoraia Prietch, and Thayssa Rocha. Reflecting the event’s spirit of Latin American integration, the activity was designed to be accessible and inclusive, featuring materials in both Portuguese and Spanish, with the lectures delivered in Portuguese and supported in Spanish.

The event was jointly organized by BR-CHI and CLIHC, with the key support of the Chair of Human-Centered Intelligent Computing at UFSCar.

Held entirely online and free of charge via Google Meet, the short course brought together participants from various institutions, strengthening the collaborative network and practical learning of HCI methodologies across both national and international landscapes.
