During the 2026 Brazilian Symposium on Collaborative Systems (SBSC), the ACM SIGCHI Brazil Chapter (BR-CHI) hosted a special panel titled “Pathways to International Publications.” Aimed at strengthening national research and supporting the scientific community, the event brought together leading names in the field to discuss the behind-the-scenes, strategies, and challenges involved in submitting to high-impact global venues, such as the CHI conference.
The panel featured professors Karina Kohl (UFRGS) and Juliana França (UFRJ). Recognized for their outstanding careers, the speakers shared their practical experiences with international publishing, covering everything from the management and development of research projects to paper writing and submission strategies.
In a dynamic format focused on “what I wish I had known before,” the professors shared real-world behind-the-scenes insights and lessons learned throughout their journeys, offering valuable tips for researchers and students aiming for this path. Following the presentations, the audience actively participated in an open Q&A and networking session.
The panel was organized and moderated by BR-CHI members Claiton Correa and Rodrigo Oliveira, who guided the debate and reinforced the chapter’s ongoing commitment to fostering support networks, mentorship, and the academic development of Brazilian researchers.
